Privacy Statement (GDPR)

1. If you contact us, this indicates that you have read and understood the information detailed in the Privacy Statement Notice supplied. We will process any personal data in line with GDPR legislation (General Data Protection Regulation) May 2018 (EU).

We take your privacy seriously and are committed to ensuring it is protected. This privacy policy sets out how we use and protect any information you provide to us when inquiring about the Sheffield Spiritist Group.


All information collected by us when you inquire about or participate in the group will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. We will never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

2. What type of information we collect and what it is used for

✓Name: Your name may appear on Zoom or in the WhatsApp group.
✓Phone number: If you choose to join the WhatsApp account
✓Email address: If you choose to be a facilitator or committee member

When you inquire about the group via email, website, phone, or Facebook and Instagram, we ask that you leave your name and a contact phone number or email address.

If you decide to join the group, you will be asked to log in to the Zoom room, where your name will appear on the screen. We can also, if you request, add you to our WhatsApp group so that you receive messages about the Zoom link to use for the weekly meeting. In the WhatsApp group, we also occasionally:


- share information or videos related to the topics discussed in the meetings
- share details of other Spiritist lectures or events taking place internationally
- in accordance with Spiritist principles of charity, we may occasionally share information about charities in which our group members are involved or as part of our annual fundraising.

Other members of the WhatsApp group may see your name and WhatsApp number in this group, just as you may see their name and number. The Sheffield Spiritist Group is not responsible for this, as it is a standard WhatsApp feature.

When you contact us about the group by email, phone, website, or Facebook and we respond using the same contact method, we cannot guarantee that your means of contacting us or our means of contacting you are 100% secure. It is important for you to understand that no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

3. Retention Period - How Long Do We Store Your Data?

We store your data while you are a member of the group. If you decide to leave the group, you can request removal from the WhatsApp group so you no longer receive communications.

4. Security of Information Shared Online.


We process your personal data in compliance with GDPR (EU) 2016/679 and take all appropriate measures to keep it secure. We make every effort to ensure that all your personal information is kept secure and to protect it from unauthorized access. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and you do so at your own risk.

5. Right of Access


You may request details of the personal information we hold about you, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and in compliance with GDPR (EU) 2016/679.

6. Right to Rectification


If you believe that any information we have recorded about you is incorrect or incomplete, please email us with the details and we will promptly correct any inaccurate information.

7. Right to lodge a formal complaint

If you believe that your rights under the GDPR regulation have been infringed, or that the processing of personal data relating to you does not comply with this Regulation, you can inform the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) or by phoning their helpline on 0303 123 1113.
